Tawa pulao recipe

Tawa pulao recipe(tava pulao recipe) is a famous mumbai street food recipe. Which is prepared by tossing boiled rice with different vegetables and pav bhaji masala ( which gives special taste). It is very easy to make and you can prepare with leftover rice also.

In mumbai streets are full of famous delicious food hubs(like pav bhaji, vada pav, misal pav etc). This tawa pulao recipe in mumbai is prepared in the same tawa on which pav bhaji is prepared.

We are using butter instead of oil, this will enrich the taste. While cooking this tawa pulao recipe, employ medium flame. Use kashmiri red chilli powder for nice reddish colour.

Ingredients
  • Rice: 3 cups ,(cooked, basamati rice preferred)
  • Onions: 2 small, finely chopped
  • Tomato: 2 small, finely chopped
  • Potato: 1 big, boiled and forced
  • Green peas: half cup,half boiled
  • Capsicum: 1, finely chopped
  • Ginger garlic paste: 1 table spoon
  • Coriander leaves: half cup, finely chopped
  • Mint leaves(Pudina): half cup, finely chopped
  • Other ingredients:
  • Butter: 3 table spoons
  • Turmeric powder: 1 table spoon
  • Corainder powder: 1 table spoon
  • Biryani masala powder: 1 table spoon
  • Pav bhaji masala powder: 1.5 table spoon
  • Red chilli powder: 1.5 table spoon
  • Salt: as required
Instructions
  1. In a heavy bottom pan, heat butter. Add onions and ginger garlic paste, saute till transulent. Next add chopped tomatoes and saute till oil separates.
  2. Add spice powders and stir for 1 minute. Next add boiled potato pieces and green peas, cook for 2 minutes. Now mash potatoes and green peas roughly on the pan.
  3. Next add capsicum pieces and cook for 1 minute. Later add chopped coriander and mint leaves, give a nice stir.
  4. Finally add boiled rice and mix well. Cook for 2 minutes on slow flame. Lastly adjust salt and switch off the stove.
Notes
Adjust spice powders according to your taste.
You can add green chillies, if you like.
