 Pomfret fish fryPomfret fish is originated in Indian -Pacific ocean. These are typically available in two different variants: white and black pomfret. Here, I am presenting the recipe with white pomfret.

Pomfret fry is very quick, easy and simple recipe. Because of soft texture of pomfret, it cooks quickly. We can marinate the fish before preparing the recipe that will allow to absorb the spice powders effectively to enhance the flavor of the recipe.

To retain the nutrients intact to the extent possible, I prefer not to deep fry the fish, instead roasting on tawa (tawa fry) or simply pan fry .You can use either tawa or non stick pan for frying fish. Use medium flame for cooking.

Pomfret fry is very quick, easy and simple recipe. Because of soft texture of pomfret, it cooks quickly. We can marinate the fish before preparing the recipe that will allow to absorb the spice powders effectively to enhance the flavor of the recipe.
Ingredients
  • Pomfret (white) : 2, cleaned and washed
  • Onion: 1 big, sliced
  • Ginger: 2 inch piece
  • Garlic cloves: 6
  • Turmeric powder: half table spoon
  • Red chili powder: half table spoon
  • Lemon: 1
  • Salt: required
Instructions
  1. Wash and clean the pomfret and set a side.
  2. In a mixture jar, add onions, ginger and garlic make a smooth paste.
  3. In a bowl, add onion paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt then mix well the contents. Now, apply this mixture onto the fishes and squeeze lemon on top of the fish and all it for 30 minutes.
  4. Heat tawa. Add 2 table spoons of oil. Once oil becomes hot, place the fishes on the tawa. Cook for 2 minutes then close lid on the top. Now cook for 6-7 minutes on medium to low flame.
  5. Later turn the fish, and close lid. Cook for 5 more minutes.
  6. If you have leftover onion paste, then add roast onion paste on the tawa, cook till nicely done.
Notes
Adjust salt and spice powders according to your taste.
Careful while turning the fish, because it is very soft and break easily.
