Halwa with lapsi rava|how to make dhaliya halwa(erra nuka prasadam)

Lapsi halwa(erra nuka prasadam) made out of broken wheat (lapsi/ dhaliya/erra nuka or Goduma rava) ,sugar (or jaggery) and ghee. Procedure is very simple. It can be served as naivedyam(prasadam) for God as well.

In Andhra Pradesh it is also called as Satya nayarayana murthi prasadam. Very popular in Andhra Pradesh.

We can make this  lapsi halwa in two ways ie using pressure cooker and using sauce pan.

Here I am using pressure cooker because broken wheat (lapsi/ dhaliya/erra nuka or Goduma rava) takes little extra time to cook.

By using pressure cooker, first dry roast the broken wheat with little ghee until nice roasted aroma comes out then add double portion of water ie 1:2 ratio (1 cup lapsi requires 2 cups of water) . Close the cooker lid and wait for 4 whistles. After 4 whistles switch off the stove. When the complete pressure goes out add 1 cup sugar and 1/4 cup ghee, cook for 15 minutes on low flame. When moisture goes out add cardmon powder and give a nice stir… Halwa ready to serve..

In normal procedure, in large pan add 3 cups of water and bring to boil, next add 1 cup dry roasted broken wheat (lapsi/ dhaliya/erra nuka or Goduma rava) and reduce the flame to low. Close the lid and cook for 15 minutes on slow flame. Once broken wheat nicely done add 1 cup sugar and 1/4 cup ghee, cook for 10 minutes on a medium flame. When moisture goes out add cardmon powder and give a nice stir… Halwa ready to serve..
