Chutneys are the most delicious side dips for breakfast recipes, especially for south indian recipes. There are wide variety of chutney recipes. And each chutney is a tempting recipe. So, try all types of chutney recipes. Today, I am introducing the delicious coriander chutney recipe.

Coriander chutney is made with very few ingredients and as the name represents the main ingredient is coriander leaves. We use green chillies and jeera as the remaining ingredients.

For extra taste and richness, we give tempering to the chutney. We will fry mustered seeds, cumin seeds, split bengal gram and whole red chillies in a little amount of oil and then we pour the same on top of the coriander chutney.

Ingredients:

  1. Coriander leaves: 1 cup, chopped
  2. Green chillies: 4,
  3. Jeera: half table spoon
  4. Tamarind pulp: 2 pinch
  5. Turmeric powder: pinch
  6. Salt: as required
For tadka/tempering:
  1. Mustard seeds(Rai): half table spoon
  2. Cumin seeds(Jeera) : half table spoon
  3. Split bengal gram(chana dal): half table spoon
  4. Whole red chillies: 2

Procedure:

  1. Add little oil in a hot fry pan, add jeera and let them splitter. Next add green chillies and fry for 1 minute. Then remove these ingredients into a plate.
  2. On the same frying pan, toss the chopped coriander leaves. In a mixer jar add roasted jeera, green chillies, tamarind, turmeric powder and salt. Make fine paste. Next add coriander leaves and make a fine paste.( You can add little water while grinding).
  3. In tadka pan add little oil, once oil becomes hot add mustard seeds(Rai), cumin seeds(jeera), split bengal gram (chana dal) and red chillies one by one and toss niecly.
  4. Then pour this tadka into the coriander chutney.

Delicious coriander chutney is ready to serve. Serve with idly, dosa or Uthappam etc.

Notes
If you want the chutney to be sweet, you can add little jaggery while grinding the chutney
