Alu matar curry(bangala-dumpa batani kura)|how to make potato green-peas curry

Alu matar curry(bangaladumpa batani kura) or alu green peas curry is a delicious curry made with potato, green peas and tomato. Preparation of this alu matar curry is very simple.

For working folks and bachelors this is one of the best curry to save their time. Kids will also like this curry. Alu matar curry goes well with rice or roti..

 I am using pressure cooker to cook this curry , because it’s save time and gas as well.

To prepare this curry, in a pressure cooker add 2 table spoons of oil, once hot add crushed garlic cloves and jeera saute for 1 minute. Next add finely chopped onions,chopped potato pieces, turmeric powder and salt, saute till onions turn into golden brown colour.

Next add tomato pieces and saute for 3 minutes. Now add peas and saute for 3 minutes. Add coriander powder, masala powder and red chilli powder, saute for 2 minutes next add 1 and half cup water close the lid. Wait for 3 whistles on a medium flame. When complete pressure goes out remove the lid, adjust salt and serve hot..

Cooking time: 30 minutes

Equipment required: pressure cooker

Ingredients:

  1. Onions: 2, finely chopped
  2. Potato: 2, chopped in medium size
  3. Green peas: 1 cup
  4. Tomato: 2 small, chopped in medium size
  5. Garlic cloves: 5, crushed
  6. Cumin seeds: 1 table spoon
  7. Turmeric powder: 1 table spoon
  8. Coriander powder: 1 table spoon
  9. Masala powder: 1 table spoon
  10. Red chilli powder: 1 table spoon
  11. Salt: as required
  12. Coriander leaves: half cup

Procedure:

  1. In a pressure cooker, add 2 table spoons of oil, once hot add crushed garlic cloves and cumin seeds saute for 1 minute.
  2. Add finely chopped onions , potato pieces, turmeric powder and salt. Saute till onions become golden brown colour.
  3. Now add tomato pieces and saute for 3 minutes. Now add green peas and saute for 2 minutes.
  4. Add coriander powder, masala powder and red chilli powder saute for 2 minutes
  5. Now add 1 and half cup water and close the cooker lid. Wait for 3 whistles on a medium flame. Then turn off the stove.
  6. When complete pressure goes out, open the cooker lid and adjust salt. Add coriander leaves give a stir.

Delicious alu matar(bangaladumpa batani kura) is ready to serve..

Serve hot with hot rice or roti…

Tips:

  1. Cook the curry in low flame. Don’t burn the vegetables or masala , then curry will not be tasty.
  2. Use chilli powder and salt according to your taste.
